The flow of white water paddling

Posted by Eddo on October 10, 2013

With this series of photos I’d like to show the flow we as kayakers usually feel when we’re on the river. This usually can’t be told by showing high-shutterspeed photos, the flow of the river becomes more apparent when shown with slower shutter speeds. The crux is, that when a photographer does that, you also risk that the paddler will be blurry in the final image; timing and anticipation of the paddler’s actions do help a lot to predict movement. I’m being honest about the fact that most of the photos I shot that day were unusable, due to too much movement of the boat and kayaker, though these three photos stood out for me the most.
