Comprimises of devices

There are days when I don’t pick up my iPad, or use my MacBook Pro, just do everything I need to do on my iPhone; the abundance of applications in iOS allow me to perform the tasks at hand, although with the impairment of a small onscreen keyboard, not suitable for long-form writing IMHO. This has made me think about the usage of each of the separate devices I own and love; the iPhone for practically everything, the iPad for longform reading, casual browsing and sharing content, and the old MacBook Pro for everything that I need a ‘desktop’ machine for. Each of these devices is a compromise over using one of the other devices, either portability over power, or screen size over battery life. One could think of many of those compromises for using a specific device, but that is why many of us own several devices, right? For instance, I do have a weird relationship with my iPad; there are moments I really like it, mainly due to the use of several installed iOS apps, and there are moments there is functionality that I miss that can only be accomplished by purchasing additional accessories (such as an external keyboard for writing). Have now purchased a keyboard and folding case based on recommendations by Shawn Blanc recently, in order to further utilise the iPad mini for my needs (on which I have written this blogpost). So far the combination has been practical to write down my thoughts of the day during commute home in the train, where a laptop would have been awkward to place and heavy to carry.
